Students from Webster’s Professional Counseling Program actively participated in the recent South Carolina Counseling Association (SCCA) Conference, demonstrating their commitment to the counseling profession. Raija Haughn, Kayla Cordero, Teddy Lentz and Angela Hayes volunteered at the event, contributing their time and efforts to support the conference.

In addition, Kayla Cordero presented a poster session titled “Book Your Bliss: A Counselor Trainee's Exploration of Self-Care in Graduate School.”  The session addressed the challenges faced by graduate counseling students and emphasized the importance of self-care in preventing burnout, compassion fatigue and decreased well-being. It provided practical strategies to help trainees build resilience, enhance academic performance and improve job satisfaction.

Cordero was encouraged to submit her program proposal by faculty advisor Rebecca George, PhD, LPCS, LAC, a core faculty member, assessment director and clinical coordinator for Webster’s Department of Professional Counseling at the Columbia Metropolitan Campus.

The active engagement of Webster’s Professional Counseling Program students at the conference highlighted their dedication to professional growth and their commitment to advancing the counseling field. Students were eager to network, engage with professionals and participate in meaningful professional development opportunities.
