Lyra and Raemonia students on stage receiving award

The Community Music School (CMS) of Webster University is proud to announce that two of its Preparatory Program ensembles — the Lyra Quartet and the Raemonia String Quartet — shared the Audience Choice Award in the junior division at the Saint Paul String Quartet Competition (SPSQC) on April 12, 2025.

Held annually in St. Paul, Minnesota, the SPSQC is a premier national competition for advanced young chamber musicians. The Audience Choice Award, determined by audience vote during the final round, recognizes ensembles that deliver outstanding performances and deeply engage their listeners.

Both quartets — composed of advanced high school musicians from across the St. Louis region — train through the CMS Preparatory Program, which offers intensive chamber music coaching and performance opportunities. Their success reflects their dedication, musical growth and the expert mentorship of CMS faculty.

Travel to the competition was made possible by generous support from the Chamber Music Society of St. Louis and an anonymous donor. Their contributions gave these students an unforgettable opportunity to represent St. Louis on a national stage.

“We’re incredibly proud of the Lyra and Raemonia quartets,” said Nicole Springer, director of the Community Music School. “They’ve grown so much as musicians, and this award reflects their ability to move and inspire audiences.”

Interviews with the Lyra Quartet and Raemonia Quartet are available on the SPSQC website.

Both quartets will perform in the CMS Preparatory Program Spring Concert on April 23.
