February 20, 2025
The Community Music School (CMS) of Webster University proudly recognizes the achievements
of its students in the Artist Presentation Society (APS) competition. The APS is dedicated
to supporting young musicians, encouraging excellence in performance, and providing
them with significant opportunities for growth.
Honoring the 2025 Winners
The APS competition for CMS students, held bi-annually, selected two winners this year:
Asher Koh, piano student of Vera Parkin
Eric Chang, violin student of Pavel Ilyashov
Additionally, Sylvia Kennedy, a cello student of Catherine Ramos (Lehr), received an Honorable Mention in recognition of her exceptional talent.
The competition took place on Oct. 27, 2024, followed by the winners’ recital on Feb. 2, 2025, at the CMS Concert Hall at Webster University. This recital provided an invaluable opportunity for the winners to perform for an enthusiastic audience, further showcasing their musical artistry.
About the Artist Presentation Society
Since its founding in 1947, the Artist Presentation Society has played a vital role in fostering young musical talent by providing performance opportunities and financial support. Nearly 200 past winners have gone on to successful careers as soloists, music educators, orchestral musicians, and opera performers, with some attaining international recognition.
Each year, APS hosts a classical music competition for vocalists, pianists, solo instrumentalists, and chamber ensembles. Winners not only receive a certificate and a monetary award but also gain the experience of performing in a formal recital setting.
