Transfer Guide from Lewis & Clark Community College

This guide has been published to assist students in preparing for transfer from Lewis & Clark Community College to complete the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. This should not be used in place of individual academic advising. Students are strongly encouraged to meet with a Webster University transfer admissions counselor early in their academic career to ensure a smooth transfer experience.

• Courses offered in 8-week online sessions.
• Designed for working RNs: part-time students can typically complete the nursing curriculum in 2 to 2 ½ years depending on if courses are taken in the summer. Some students must take additional Global Citizenship Program and/or elective courses to fulfill degree requirements. Nursing faculty advisors discuss additional requirements during the admissions interview.
• Small faculty to student ratio to ensure close and individualized academic advising and instruction.

• Provide proof of current unencumbered U.S. registered nurse license or be eligible for licensure as an RN and have a scheduled NCLEX exam within three months of beginning the program. Progression through the program is contingent on maintenance of an unencumbered nursing licensure.
• Provide transcripts from nursing schools and all colleges from which academic credit has been granted.
• Demonstrate a cumulative GPA of 2.5 on 4.0 scale in previous scholastic work.
• Completion of a Webster University Application for Admission. If interested, review the information about the Webster – Lewis & Clark Dual Admission program.
• Submit a résumé.
• Complete an advising interview with a faculty member.
• Successfully and satisfactorily complete a drug screen and criminal background check, plus submit other required documents including, but not limited to, a health history; a vaccination/immunization profile (influenza, HepB, TDap, MMR, COVID-19 and varicella); annual TB test/screen; evidence of American Heart Association CPR certification; a copy of current personal health insurance card; and a signed student contract.

• Webster has a minimum residency requirement that 30 credits must be taken at Webster University. All students must have a minimum of 120 credit hours to graduate.
• Students must earn a grade of C- or better in any course they wish to apply toward the major or general education/GCP.
• Students must earn a grade of C or better in any course taken toward the nursing major.
• Webster University may accept up to 90 lower-division credit hours, including lower-division credit hours earned beyond the first associate degree and for credit by examination, for registered nurse (RN) students seeking a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. This may include credit hours accepted by the community college for licensed practical nurse (LPN) advanced placement. Please refer to the nursing department for more information.

Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (Years 1 and 2 at Lewis & Clark Community College)

Students must complete all requirements of the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing at SCC and meet Webster’s admission requirements as outlined above. For students looking to complete their prerequisites while at SCC, please see the chart below.

Prerequisite Courses

All applicants must successfully establish college credit in the following prerequisite courses. It is recommended that these be taken as part of the associate degree at Lewis & Clark Community College if possible. Please seek assistance from your Lewis & Clark advisor or Webster transfer counselor for guidance on how best to meet these requirements. If not taken prior to matriculation at Webster, each student will work with their nursing program advisor to schedule these accordingly.

RN-BSN students are required to take at least 30 credit hours at Webster University.

Elective hours can consist of any college-level courses that are not already being applied to the major or general education requirements of the degree.
