The Special Events Office is responsible for the planning and implementation of University events in the St. Louis metro area. Events include: groundbreaking and dedication ceremonies, bringing guest speakers to campus, open houses and receptions, appreciation lunches, conferences and workshops, donor and community relations events, Board of Trustee dinners, Commencement and the University’s community service day, Webster Works Worldwide. Special Events Coordinators are available to help you plan, implement, and publicize special events for your school, college, department, or campus. If you have an idea for a conference, workshop, or speaker, or if you are contacted by an individual or group that wants to collaborate with the University on an event, contact Nancy Higgins or Jennifer Willis to explore possibilities. Special Events Mission Statement The Office of Special Events seeks to serve the internal and external communities by providing expertise and assistance in all areas of event planning on the Webster University campus, enriching the quality of life for students, faculty and staff, alumni and University supporters. The Office of Special Events enhances both the stature of the University and quality of life on campus through the production and management of sponsored event programs such as groundbreaking and dedication ceremonies, guest speakers, open houses and receptions, appreciation lunches, conferences and workshops, donor and community relations events, Board of Trustee dinners, Commencement and the University’s community service day, Webster Works Worldwide. Through these events, both internal and external relationships are built, enhancing the quality of student education and campus life while balancing the University’s educational responsibilities with its commitment to cultural, social and economic development of the local community of which it is a part. |

Nancy Higgins Special Events Coordinator Loretto Hall 355 (314) 968-6959 higgins@webster.edu Nancy Higgins, special event coordinator, plans events for the President’s office, Development, the schools and colleges, and various University departments. Nancy joined the University in 2002. She holds a MA in Media Communication/Public Relations from Webster University and a BS in Communications from St. Louis University. Nancy is an adjunct professor in the School of Communications where she teaches the Webbies Public Relations class. Prior to joining Webster, Nancy was an account executive at Lents & Associates, a public relations firm. She was also the marketing director at the Booksource, a book wholesaler, where she published a children’s book called, A Midwinter Knight’s Dream, written by local celebrities and authors to raise funds for local literacy organizations. Nancy was also the marketing and community relations director at KMOX radio and the marketing director at the Library, Ltd., the largest, independent bookstore in the country. Nancy has served on the boards of Adult Basic Education, First Book St. Louis, and Payback. |

Jennifer Willis Special Events Coordinator Loretto Hall 357 (314) 968-5986 willis@webster.edu As a special event coordinator, Jennifer Willis works closely with the President’s Office as well as the Development department to plan and implement a variety of University, community and donor events. In addition, she supports the various schools and colleges and other University departments with event planning. Jennifer joined the University in 2002. She holds a MA in Media Communication from Webster University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism. Jennifer is also the Chair of the Webster Works Worldwide Planning Committee and is the campus contact for community service and volunteer activities. Jennifer has more than 10 years of experience in special event planning and event marketing. Before coming to Webster, Jennifer worked in the public relations department at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center as an event planner. She was an account executive for Momentum Event Marketing, where she worked with clients such as Pepperidge Farms, Minute Maid, Coca Cola and K-Mart. Jennifer began her career in events by driving across the country as a public relations representative, aka “Hotdogger,” for the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. |
