ST. LOUIS, July 1, 2008 – Margaret Donnelly and Jeff Harris, who are vying for the Democratic nomination for Missouri Attorney General, will speak as part of the Webster University Holden Public Policy Forum’s Pizza and Politics speaker series, on Thursday, July 10 at 6 p.m. in the Emerson Library Conference Room, 101 Edgar Rd., Webster Groves. The event is free and open to the public.

Pizza and Politics is a town-hall style meeting, moderated by Forum founder and former Mo. Gov. Bob Holden, where public policy makers, members of the community and students discuss the political process and key issues of the day. Donnelly and Harris will speak with students and members of the community about their campaign platforms and stands on key issues in the Attorney General race. Topics to be covered range from consumer product safety and cyber crimes, to environmental protection, sexual offenders, the illegal manufacture of methamphetamines, education and worker protection.

Donnelly just completed her third term in the Mo. House of Representatives, where she was appointed the ranking Democrat on the House Budget Committee. Her other committee assignments included Appropriations for Health, Mental Health and Social Services; Elections; and the Joint Committee on Government Accountability. After receiving her law degree from St. Louis University, Donnelly, a resident of Richmond Heights, spent two decades working in her own family law practice in St. Louis County. She was regularly appointed by judges to represent children in child abuse trials. Curently, Donnelly is a board member of the Family Support Network, and a member of the St. Louis & Missouri Women's Political Caucus, and the Missouri Bar Family Law Section.

Harris has represented part of his hometown of Columbia in the Missouri House since 2002. He was elected Minority Whip after his first year in office, then as House Democratic Leader in 2004 and again in 2006. Prior to being elected to the House, Harris served as an assistant Missouri attorney general under Attorney General Jay Nixon. Before that he practiced law in Kansas City and also worked as a field organizer on U.S. Rep. Dick Gephardt's 1988 presidential campaign. He received his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University and his law degree from Cornell Law School.
