Kindermusik® Family Camp

Experience enough music, stories and activities to inspire a lifetime of learning! In Kindermusik® camp, parents and children will play, learn, sing, dance, create and share in the fun of making music together.

Requirements: children must be accompanied by their caregiver. One early childhood kit must be purchased by each family.

Pop Songwriting Camp

June 3–7, 2024
9 a.m.–1 p.m.
Grades 9–12

Songwriting Camp includes daily songwriting technique lessons, co-writing sessions with peers coached by camp faculty, feedback sessions with camp faculty and peers, and a culminating concert.

Requirements: Must be able to accompany themselves on piano, guitar, ukulele or other harmonizing instrument.

Flute Camp

June 3–7, 2024
2–5 p.m.
Grades 7–12

Facilitated by Nadine Hur, this program is designed to address individual strengths and challenges. It includes warm-up exercises, tone, intonation and breathing techniques, and nationally-renown guest flutists.  Culminating event: concert.

Requirements: one year in school band program or private instruction.

String Orchestra Camp

June 10–14, 2024
9 a.m.–12 p.m.
Grades 2–12

Students participate daily in full string orchestra rehearsals, sectionals and master classes/special presentations. Three orchestra levels under the direction of CMS orchestra conductors will musically challenge every student. Culminating event: concert.

Requirements: one year’s experience playing instrument and reading music (quarter and eighth notes, minimum).

Chamber Music Encounter

June 10–14, 2024
1–5 p.m.
Grades 7–12

Professional chamber musicians will coach trios, quartets, and quintets in this wonderful music form where compositions are performed by and written for one player for each part. Culminating event: concert.

Band Camp

Grades 7–12

Participate in ensembles, master classes and special events while learning important practice and audition preparation techniques. Work directly with St. Louis professional musicians who play your instrument! Culminating Event: concert.

Requirements: one year in school band program or private instruction. Auditions (for placement) required.

Summer Composition Intensive

July 8–19, 2024
9 a.m.–2 p.m.
Grades 7–12

Develop your compositions with St. Louis area composers and musicians. Work is in groups according to experience level — from those needing the basics of notation, transposition and scoring, to students with prior composing experience. Culminating event: concert of original work performed and recorded by professional musicians.

Requirements: Must be able to read music and play an instrument or sing.

Saxophone Summer Intensive

July 15–19, 2024
9 a.m.–1 p.m.
Grades 7–12

Perform in a variety of saxophone-centric ensembles. Voicings range from saxophone duets to a full saxophone choir. Masterclasses will discuss and apply topics like technique, performance within ensembles, and other key aspects all while working with top educators and working professionals.

Requirements: one year in school band program or private instruction. Auditions required.

Individual Lessons: Summer Session

June 15–Aug. 2, 2024

Ages 6 & up*

Start a new instrument or brush-up/maintain skills on your current instrument. Individual lessons give you the personal attention you need to succeed. 30-, 45-, or 60-minute lessons are available. Students must have their own instruments; a traditional piano is preferred for piano students.

*Requirements: students as young as age 6 can begin on piano and guitar. All ages and abilities welcome — adults too!
Tuition: Six 30-minute weekly lessons are $216 total (other lesson lengths available)

Camp Audition Information

If an audition or pre-camp survey is required for camp, registered students will be sent instructions after the registration deadline for that camp. Auditions are by video.

How to Register for Summer Camps

Go to our online registration site.

  • Set up an account. You will be asked for parent/guardian information, then you may add student information. More than one student may be added to the parent/guardian account.
  • Once your account is set up, if you are not taken directly to the Summer Programs page, click "Summer Programs" from the menu on the left. Click "Register Now" for each camp. If registering more than one student, be sure to select the correct student from the drop-down list while registering.
  • You may register the same student for multiple camps.

How to Pay for Camps

Once you have registered for your camp(s) you will see the amount due. You may pay at the time of registration by credit card.

Summer Individual Lesson Registration Information

Clazz String Intensive

June 17–22, 2024
1–5 p.m.
Intermediate to advanced string players age 12 and up including adults and professionals with at least five years experience.

The Clazz String Intensive is designed to introduce classically trained string players to the art of improvisation through the pedagogical ideals of jazz and musical languages from other cultures. Students will be exposed to jazz, blues, bluegrass, tango, and more. Faculty will include Prof. Matt
Pickart, members of the Clazz Quartet, Webster University jazz faculty, and more. Previous special guests have included Tracy Silverman.

Missouri Chamber Music Festival (MOCM) Adult Chamber Music Intensive

July 29–Aug. 3, 2024

Intermediate and advanced instrumentalists aged 21 and over

The MOCM Adult Chamber Music Intensive places adult instrumentalists in chamber ensembles of various sizes and instrumentation to work with faculty player/coaches. The core collaborative faculty include Nina Ferrigno, piano, Dana Hotle, clarinet, Jo Nardolillo, violin & Ken Kulosa, cello (subject to change). Seasoned chamber musicians and educators from the St. Louis area performing organizations including Chamber Project St. Louis & the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra act as player/coaches during this stimulating week. The experience for participants also includes group readings, master classes, faculty presentations and concerts. Young Person Fellowships and Scholarships are available.
