Legal Studies
Knowledge of the law and the legal system can assist individuals in a wide variety of careers; legal careers such as paralegals/legal assistants, human resource managers, law enforcement officers, insurance claims adjusters, probation and parole officers, court administrators, union representatives, health administrators, government agency workers, etc. The Legal Studies Department provides students the tools needed to move successfully into law related fields or graduate work. The department is committed to engaging students in critical thinking and analysis, practical applications, substantive understanding, and exposing students to technology encountered.

Assistant Professor Robin Jefferson Higgins is our Director of Legal Studies. She
earned her BA in Economics and an MA in Spanish from the University of Missouri-Columbia,
as well as a Juris Doctorate from St. Louis University. She was previously employed
at Lashly & Baer, P.C., where she practiced School Law, Administrative Law, and Employment
Law.
