Welcome Back Students!
The students return this week, and there are several events scheduled, from orientation events to a movie on the quad.
The start of the “new year” at Webster University officially begins at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22, when New Student Orientation gets under way. The program features a wide variety of activities for freshmen and transfer students and their families, all designed to welcome them to the Webster campus community.
Day one of NSO includes check-in and the Campus/Community Resource Fair, both in the University Center, and move-in to the residence halls. In the evening, residence hall floor meetings take place, as well as a social for commuter students. The day concludes with an NSO kick-off event on the Quad.
Friday is even busier. After breakfast, students and parents gather in the Loretto Hilton Center for an official welcome presentation. Other highlights include Dean's welcome programs, a presentation for parents on Webster University resources, and separate presentations for parents and students on college life.
On Saturday, new students have the opportunity to learn about Webster's study abroad programs, and campus health and safety, before bidding their parents a final farewell. Immediately afterward comes what probably is the signature NSO event: the “Giant W” photo shoot in the Quad.
NSO activities conclude on Sunday, with a Gorloks Giving Back volunteer event, classroom building tours and a movie screening on the Quad.
Come Monday, Aug. 26, it's back to business as usual for the entire Webster University community, as undergraduate classes begin and the campus once again comes alive.
