Faculty Awards and Opportunities

The Wilma and Roswell Messing, Jr., Faculty Award

Webster University is proud to be the home of the Wilma and Roswell Messing, Jr., Faculty Award. Established in 1977, the Messing Faculty Award is presented to a full-time faculty member for summer activity which will strengthen the curriculum of his/her department or improve the teaching/learning relationship. The award, a stipend in the amount of $4,500, funds international travel and other expenses related to the summer activity.

Nominations for the 2014 Messing Award will be accepted beginning Sept. 16, 2013. The deadline is Monday, Nov. 11, 2013.

Faculty Research Grants

The Faculty Research Grant program is designed to encourage and promote faculty research and professional development. Grant applications are invited annually for scholarly research, academic projects, artistic performances, exhibitions, and studies in any discipline. Grants are awarded to applicants with the strongest potential to advance academic excellence for the individual faculty member and for Webster University.

Nominations for the 2014-15 Faculty Research Grants will be accepted beginning Sept. 16, 2013. The deadline is Friday, Nov. 22, 2013.

William T. Kemper Award for Excellence in Teaching

The William T. Kemper Award for Excellence in Teaching is awarded annually to two full-time and two adjunct faculty members who exhibit the art of teaching at its finest. The Award is funded through the generosity of the William T. Kemper Foundation.

Nominations for the 2014 Kemper Award will be accepted starting Monday, Dec. 9, 2013. The deadline for nominations is Monday, Feb. 10, 2014.


Faculty Mobility Fellowship

Faculty Mobility Fellowships provide support for Webster University faculty members to travel to, and teach at, other Webster campuses. The Fellowships are available to full-time faculty members who have completed one academic year at Webster and to adjunct faculty who have taught six courses.
