Webster University is seeking a full-time afternoon/evening IT Service Desk Coordinator within the Information Technology Support Services department. Qualified candidates will have a proven background in superior customer service and excellent communications skills, both written and verbal. Experience with basic computer applications is required and experience with Apple products is a plus. The ability to show initiative in a fast-paced environment that requires excellent time management and multi-tasking skills is essential. Previous service desk/help desk or call center experience and higher education experience will be given priority.  

Responsibilities include supervising student representatives in the service desk, support via telephone, email and ticket management, assisting ITSS management in various duties, and serving as an escalation point for support issues. Training and documentation skills and providing performance-based coaching and feedback to student representatives are other essential parts of this job.

This job is salaried with the hours typically being 1:00pm – 9:00pm Monday – Thursday and 11:00am – 7:00pm Friday. Assistance outside of these hours may occasionally be needed.

Webster University’s Project Management Office is seeking a graduate assistant to join the Business Process Center of Excellence. The Center of Excellence carries out business process analysis and optimization projects across University departments, identifying improvements that elevate the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization. COE staff will receive top-tier training on the job while working with expert consultants.

COE Graduate Assistants will work directly on process improvements to drive the University forward into the next century of education while receiving valuable knowledge and experience in business analysis and optimization. Graduate Assistants will learn to document and analyze business processes, identify improvements and deliver recommendations for process change. They will support and coordinate special projects, apply analytical skills to solve moderate to complex problems and become well-versed in business process analysis. They will learn to document and model both current and future state processes using the IBM Blueworks software.

Graduate Assistants will support organizational change management and communications involving business process optimization. They will also provide technical and administrative support for the Process Center of Excellence, as well as other duties as assigned.

Webster University has an opening for an Assistant Professor of Music (Music Theory & Composition) in the Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts.

Qualifications:
Candidates with significant collegiate teaching experience in the areas of composition, analysis, and music theory who hold an earned doctorate in music are preferred. Applicants having a Master’s degree in music and a substantial record of professional experience may be considered. Applicants should be active composers with the potential for significant achievement in the field of composition. The ideal candidate will have an interest in a variety of genres, experience with music composition software and technology, and the ability to teach curriculum in these areas. Areas of interest might include, but are not limited to, music for film or games, electroacoustic music, or music in the vernacular tradition.  

Duties:
The appointee will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in composition (including private instruction), music theory (both tonal and atonal/ post-tonal), and other areas, including general education, but also depending on the candidate’s expertise and the needs of the Department.The appointee will be expected to engage in student advising activities, serve as advisor to students in the areas of composition and music theory, and supervise student projects and research. Additional assignments may include teaching courses in support of the music program and other duties assigned by the Chair of the Department of Music. Faculty members are expected to engage in appropriate creative and scholarly endeavors, and to serve the profession and the university.

Webster University has an opening for a Manager in the Online Learning Center. This position will be responsible for Administration and Student Services. The primary role in the area of Administration is to assist the Associate Vice President, and Director of the Online Learning Center (AVP OLC) with the management of all areas of operations for the Online Learning Center. These areas of operational support include OLC relationships and activities with other Webster administrative departments and offices. These include Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, Academic Advising, Registrar, Human Resources, Finance, Business Office, Facilities, Global Marketing & Communications, and Extended Sites. In addition, this role will support certain external-related distance learning activities and reporting such as compliance with U.S. Department of Education requirements and individual State Authorization initiatives.

OLC Administration:

  • Assist the AVP OLC with the management of all areas of operation for the Online Learning Center. Assist all OLC teams in project management and process improvement.
  • Assist the AVP OLC with budget expense management, staff management, and the continuing development, advancement, review and enforcement of policies and procedures that support quality assurance within the OLC.
  • Manage collaborative projects with various Webster University departments.
  • Establish and monitor processes for collecting and reporting data for State Authorization and/or local licensing/certification requirements for all OLC programs, for external distance learning surveys, and to support Webster generated public relations initiatives. Manage the state authorization process for OLC programs, establish appropriate communication channels with each state, and monitor state renewal cycles.
  • Provide data to support reporting requirements for external constituencies such as the Higher Learning Commission, the U.S Department of Education, specialized program accreditations (i.e. ACBSP for business), U.S. News and World Reports, Peterson’s, State Higher Education Departments, etc.
  • Identify and lead initiatives that contribute to national recognition of Webster University’s Online Learning Center and online programs.

The primary responsibly in the area of Student Services is to lead and manage the continuing development of services directed toward online students, and supervise the student services staff that focuses on student retention, new student orientation and support, and overall student engagement. The student services team is designed to proactively engage and more fully integrate our online students into the university community by initiating proactive programming designed to connect online students to the Webster family in the many positive ways that on-ground students are connected in St. Louis and throughout our extended campus network.

Student Services:

  • Supervise the student services team, all related initiatives, and daily activities.  
  • Research and analyze online student demographics and behaviors. Establish an accurate student profile necessary to support the design of various outreach and student success activities.
  • Lead initiatives that enhance student success, including new student orientation, ongoing student support, and overall student engagement and retention.
  • Integrate and coordinate online student services initiatives with those Webster offices that support online students, including Admissions, Financial Aid, Academic Advising, Extended Campuses, Military sites, etc.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree.
  • At least five years professional work experience in a higher education environment
  • Track record of successful project management, teamwork, cross-department collaboration and innovation
  • Experience with student success initiatives, student engagement, or proactive student advising and support
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service focused communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with staff, students, and the University community.

Summary of Position: 

Webster University has an immediate opening for a Web Service Analyst in Information Technology.  The Web Service Analyst will be responsible for the development, programming, integration, testing and implementation of applications/functions supporting the University’s enterprise information systems.  The position will create special reports and file extracts from existing databases using generalized routines or report writers; analyze user reported problems in the database; review, analyze and evaluate existing business processes to determine areas for process improvement; serve as a technical/support resource and contribute expertise within and between project teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two or more years of relevant work experience using relational databases, data retrieval and ad-hoc reporting tools
  • Experience with UNIX, SQL/Informix SQL, C/C++, perl, other database systems and scripting languages
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office required

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (specialization open) is preferred at the time of appointment, although consideration will be given to strong candidates who are ABD.

Duties: Strong preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching, licensed or license-eligible in Missouri, and an active program of scholarship with undergraduate involvement. Applicants should be qualified to teach Introductory Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Clinical Psychology, and other courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. This is a nine (9) month academic position with a teaching load of six courses per year (three courses each semester) and student academic advising responsibilities. Faculty members are expected to develop an active scholarship program in psychology that will involve undergraduate students. Faculty members are also expected to participate in department, college and university governance activities and other university events.

School: The College of Arts and Sciences is the intellectual foundation of Webster University. The Walker School is seeking an Online Faculty Coordinator. The need for committed, well-trained online faculty is ongoing and necessary for to ensure that the online learning experience is stellar. Although the Online Learning Center (OLC) provides initial training and ongoing support on an as-needed basis, it is necessary that each online instructor feels an integral part of the academic community within the Walker School of Business & Technology.

A master’s degree in a field related to business or technology required. Doctoral degree preferred. 5+ years teaching experience, some of which must be online teaching, or extensive staff or faculty experience with online education in a university setting, preferably in a business or technology school. The program aims to provide these professionals with competencies in communication, project management, leadership, regulatory affairs, intellectual property, finance, ethics, and law.

• Research, test, and implement new systems as they relate to the enhanced delivery of online courses through the WorldClassRoom.
• Main point of contact for beta testing and managing Instructure collaboration partnership.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related) or equivalent experience in web development field.
• Experience with current web development tools, languages, and technologies including LAMP stack development.
• Medium to advanced database (SQL) experience.
• Experience with web development, media production, interactive design, or equivalent.
• Experience with online/asynchronous learning or learning management systems a plus.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and OAuth2 is a plus.
• Experience working with faculty or instructors in a university setting is preferred.
• Experience with Adobe Media Server preferred but not required.

This is a twelve (12) month academic position.

Duties include teaching 5 courses and administering the nursing programs for the Kansas City Extended Campus under the direction and supervision of the Chair of the Nursing program and in collaboration with the regional director of Kansas City Metro campus. This individual will also identify and partner with healthcare organizations to refer their employees to Webster University; cultivate strong relationships with Webster University partners, stay current with trends and initiatives within nursing, gather and communicate strategic information and recommend marketing changes or modifications, as appropriate, and serve as the nursing program representative for the Kansas City Extended Campus at professional meetings and functions.  (9course load for year with 4 course releases)

Incumbent is also responsible for recruiting BSN and MSN students, advising BSN and MSN students of program options, policies, and procedures, and supporting the Midwest extended campuses in the region with the recruitment of online students.    This individual will orient new BSN and MSN faculty to University and program policies and procedures.

This individual will be responsible for the day to day operations of the KC nursing programs, which includes, but is not limited to: Scheduling course offerings for each term, assigning faculty to courses, maintaining faculty employment files and clinical contract files.

It is expected that the individual will engage in professional development and other activities to support the nursing department, and participate in department, college, and university governance activities, and other university events. Travel to the St. Louis campus and Missouri extended campuses may occasionally occur.

A doctorate in Counselor Education preferably from a CACREP-accredited program is required. Associate or Full Professor and Head of the Media Communications Department

The Vienna Campus of Webster University is looking for a candidate to head the Media Communications (MC) Department. S/he will have a strong research record and a proven experience in managing an academic department or comparable entity. The candidate will have demonstrated the ability to make a significant contribution to the MC field by publishing in refereed academic journals or by a significant, peer-reviewed track record in the MC production field. S/he will teach at the undergraduate level, contribute to the curricular development of the department, and assume full administrative responsibilities at the departmental level.  S/he will help the University build and expand upon the opportunities that the worldwide Webster network provides. At the same time, s/he will be able to direct her/his teaching to an international student audience with a predominantly European background.

The department currently concentrates on a general Media Communications major, with courses ranging from theory and history to writing, audiovisual media and legal and ethical issues (see http://www.webster.ac.at/media-communications/bachelor-arts-ba-media-communications for details). In the near future the department will also emphasize visual media production.  The candidate is expected to have practical experience with current developments in multimedia digital communication. The initial contract will be for three years with the opportunity of extension and promotion.

Compensation: minimum gross annual salary of EUR 70,000, depending on experience and publication record; salary includes full insurance benefits of the Austrian Social insurance system.

Essential:

  • A PhD in Media/Communications/Journalism or MFA, MS, or MA in a relevant production field (for appointment at Full Prof level, Habilitation or equivalent are mandatory)

  • Practical experience in at least one area of communications/journalism/media production
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to a collegial and intellectual environment
  • A solid scholarly track record or production equivalent
