Annual Security and Fire Safety Report Notice of Availability

 The Annual Security and Fire Safety reports for each of the Webster University campuses and sites are available on the Webster University website at http://www.webster.edu/public-safety/reports.html

If you would like to receive a hard copy of any of the Annual Security and Fire Safety reports, you can stop by the Webster University Department of Public Safety on the Webster Groves campus located at 572 Garden Avenue St. Louis, MO 63119 or you can request that a copy be mailed to you by calling 314-968-7430 or sending an email to publicsafety@webster.edu

The reports contain information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security on each campus. The reports contain crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Webster University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from each campus. Some of the reports also contain information about fire statistics and fire safety (for those campuses with residential facilities).

This information is required by law and is provided by Webster University Department of Public Safety

Webster University has an opening for a Sustainability Coordinator at our Webster Groves campus. The Sustainability Coordinator will help develop, coordinate and support programs focused on sustainability at Webster University with a priority on involvement by the student body, faculty, staff and the surrounding community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Helps to develop, plan, coordinate and implement activities related to sustainability at Webster University. The work will include but is not limited to seminars, conferences, program development, workshops, and events involving the community and the students, faculty and staff at Webster University.
  • Supports the effort in creating a sustainability mindset among stakeholders at Webster and will coordinate and/or procure any and all materials and resources deemed necessary to effectively demonstrate and educate with the intent of installing sustainable lifestyle practices.
  • At the direction of the Manager, Facilities Operations, reviews existing programs and practices and recommends expansion, modification or replacement.
  • Assists with defining goals and monitoring the performance of programs and efforts directed at achieving these goals. Provides assistance with budget preparation and grant applications.
  • On occasion, oversees graduate assistance and students for specific projects.
  • Collaborates with the existing campus recycling program as needed for data and program development assistance from the Grounds Supervisor.
  • Assists with the maintenance and updates of information on the Webster University website sustainability page.
  • Manages environmental waste handling responsibilities.
  • Assists with other general duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT

  • Bachelor’s degree in an environmental/sustainability related discipline. 1-2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Experience in program development and ongoing management of these programs as they are rolled out.
  • Knowledge of a University organization that will assist in the implementation of the programs across the established tiers of a University.
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills are required to include interpersonal communication across all levels.
  • Ability to multi task and be self-motivated in order to meet deadlines is essential in this progressive and forward thinking position.
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office products and web page maintenance.

Duties include checking out School of Communication field production equipment and receiving returned equipment, greeting visitors, answering inquiries, enforcing Media Center policies and procedures, supervising work-study student employees, and routing incoming telephone calls.  

Qualifications:  Bachelors degree in media communications or experience with different camera formats (film and digital acquisition), knowledge of audio, animation and broadcast field production equipment. Webster University is seeking a part-time (15 hours/week) reference librarian to provide comprehensive service while working at a reference desk with evening and weekend hours. He or she responds to telephone, chat, email, and in person inquiries and reference questions. He or she provides individual instruction in the use of information resources, information literacy, and research skills for Webster University and Eden Seminary students, faculty, and staff. He or she also provides assistance to members of the community using the library. The librarian works with the reference team to assess and expand services, as needed.

  • Experience with academic library databases, reference transactions, and  sophisticated   internet searching required.  


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a member of the reference team and participates in Reference and all-staff meetings.
  • Provides ready reference service and in-depth individual instruction to faculty, administrators, staff, and students of Webster University worldwide and Eden Seminary. Assists members of the community visiting the library. Works on a rotating basis with other reference staff to cover the reference desk during the day, evening, and weekend hours for the majority of the hours the library is open.
  • Assists patrons with research and reference questions in person at the reference desk and other areas of the library, responds to reference and research inquiries over the phone as well as through email and chat.
  • Works with liaison librarians to provide the support needed for various faculty research projects such as conducting literature reviews, formatting bibliographies, and identifying copyright permission-holders.
  • Teaches research skills and the use of specific research tools through point-of-need instruction.
  • Works with all electronic databases and the library catalog and instructs users about the intricacies of each tool.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Works proactively with contacts in Webster’s administrative and academic departments to keep abreast of current outcomes fit for use in timely, marketed material.

Term of appointment:  2014-2015 academic year (renewable for 2nd year)
                                   August 15 – May 15 appointment

Course Work:  Must be accepted to a graduate program at Webster University
                       Must enroll in 9 credit hours of graduate courses per semester
                       Must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA

Hours of Work:  Not to exceed 20 hours per week

Payment:  $12,000* payable in equal installments on a bi-weekly basis

Scholarship:  $2,993* per semester (equivalent to 50% of graduate tuition at on-ground rate)

Specific Responsibilities may include:

  • Assist in the day-to-day management of the Webster University website(s) and attendant sites, and help conceive and develop web content for these sites.
  • Editing the university website within the Content Management System (OUCampus – Omni Update).
  • Adhere to the quality standards set by the University digital marketing and communications team.
  • Foster a consistent understanding among faculty and staff to ensure digital marketing and communications meet University branding and messaging standards.
  • Measure the effectiveness of content, messaging, and other strategies in achieving the University’s marketing and communications goals.
  • Generate reports of Key Performance Indicators in Google Analytics.
  • Search engine optimization

General responsibilities may include:

  • Monitor and explore new and emerging technologies and technology applications; provide recommendations to Director of Digital Marketing and Communications.
  • Engage in the creative digital marketing process, contributing new ideas and digital strategies designed to attract new student enrollment and current faculty & student involvement with the university.
  • General assistance to the Director of Digital Marketing & Communication

Under the direction of the Manager, Online Student Admissions, team member will respond to new fully online undergraduate and graduate student inquiries providing information and counseling with regard to Webster University online programs with the goal of matriculating students.  Flexible hours needed to include at least one evening a week and some weekends.  Review of applications will continue until positions are filled.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities*

  • Recruit prospective online students by responding to inquiries, counseling prospective students on University admissions policies and procedures, and appropriate follow-up.
  • Evaluate prospective students’ academic profile for admission to the University.
  • Serve and counsel prospective online students from the point of inquiry through registration in the first course.
  • Represent online programs at on-campus and off-campus recruitment events as need.
  • Assists with various recruitment call campaigns.
  • Build relationships and partnerships with other departments to facilitate OLC processes.
  • Collaborate with academic advising to develop and launch web resources for online students.
  • Serve as a triage point for all incoming online students

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, college course work required.
  • Prior experience recruitment experience that includes direct contact with prospective students and effectively conveying attributes of the university including its programs, policies, procedures, and services

The Walker School is seeking an Online Faculty Coordinator. The need for committed, well-trained online faculty is ongoing and necessary for to ensure that the online learning experience is stellar. Although the Online Learning Center (OLC) provides initial training and ongoing support on an as-needed basis, it is necessary that each online instructor feels an integral part of the academic community within the Walker School of Business & Technology.

The Online Faculty Coordinator will partner with department chairs, faculty, and the OLC to ensure that each instructor is aware of our expectations and receives the support they need to be successful in the classroom, ultimately improving student learning. Specific responsibilities include onboarding new online faculty, evaluating performance of all online faculty on a regular basis, and being the first point of contact for student or faculty complaints. This position includes teaching one online course per academic year. This position reports to the Office of the Dean.

A master’s degree in a field related to business or technology required. Doctoral degree preferred. 5+ years teaching experience, some of which must be online teaching, or extensive staff or faculty experience with online education in a university setting, preferably in a business or technology school. Supervisory experience in a corporate setting and/or faculty development experience.

Description of Work

Performs skilled tasks of moderate difficulty in the maintenance, operation, and repair of buildings, facilities, equipment and equipment installation within the University in support of the Facilities Operations department. May work in conjunction with a Maintenance Technician 1 staff member for assistance and guidance with maintenance and repair assignments requiring a higher level of skill or involving greater difficulty. May be asked to assist and provide guidance to General Maintenance staff to aid them with assignments requiring a higher level of skill or involving greater difficulty. While work is distributed to take advantage of particular skills possessed, employees would normally perform work at various times that may involve all areas of building repair and maintenance and, due to fluctuating workloads, may be required on an occasional basis and according to need, to perform duties at a level of skill lower than required by his/her ordinary assignment. Assures adherence to shop safety practices and rules. Reports to the Facilities Operations Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs skilled tasks in the maintenance, operation, and repair of buildings to include equipment and equipment installation in support of the Facilities Operations department.
  • Reviews work orders, orders materials for completion of jobs, and monitors inventory.
  • Responds to emergencies during evening, nighttime, and weekend hours.
  • Assists in moving and rearranging furniture and other equipment.
  • Assists with event set-ups and office relocations by moving and assembling furniture and transferring materials.
  • Assists in various ground maintenance projects such as removing snow from sidewalks, parking lots, steps, entrances and exits.
  • Operates a variety of electrical and maintenance hand tools and equipment.
  • Assists with other general facilities operations duties as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Two or more year’s vocational or technical school training in one or more of the maintenance field trades preferred.
  • Class E Driver’s License.
  • Good knowledge of work methods and materials associated with locksmith field.
  • Good knowledge of practices, work methods, tools and equipment associated with building maintenance trade.
  • Ability to operate hand tools associated with building maintenance field.
  • Ability to read blue prints, schemas, and plans to analyze and locate work projects.
  • Ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions.
  • Sufficient strength to perform some heavy lifting and work on ladders on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to exercise basic human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with the University community.

Physical Requirements:

Required to lift, push, or pull up to 75 lbs.
Exercises precaution in handling materials such as acid, cement, compressed air, mechanical, or electrical hazards.

These courses will contribute to an innovative online degree housed in the Department of Biological Sciences. The MS in SCML is designed for professional scientists and engineers who are advancing in their careers in management and leadership roles. The program aims to provide these professionals with competencies in communication, project management, leadership, regulatory affairs, intellectual property, finance, ethics, and law.

Interested scholars need not have experience in online education, but should have experience in the field of science management and leadership, and expertise in communications, ethics, intellectual property law, marketing and comparative analysis, project management, or regulatory and qualitative affairs. The designer will also have the opportunity to teach their course with the possibility of continuing teaching in the department.

The responsibilities include: mentoring undergraduate costume designers, drapers and stitchers through the costume production process for three productions, teaching one costume construction class and managing the costume shop. The management responsibilities include but are not limited to review of all costume renderings, buy, pull and build lists, guidance and participation in fittings, organizing and assigning alterations to both students and staff stitcher, guiding the wardrobe crew through the production process, overseeing the production and classroom budgets and organizing and executing all strikes.  The manager/mentor works in collaboration with two costume design teachers, one wig and makeup teacher and one crafts artisan teacher.

Communicate with vendors about equipment and publishers about paper specs, general publishing processes and concerns.
• Oversee the advertising and business functions of The Journal, The Ampersand, The Galaxy and GTV. Monitor budgets, pay registration fees, approve expenses and submit reimbursement requests

This position will be responsible for the technical and visual development of online courses, learning objects, and support systems within the universities learning management system.

This position will:
• Support course development within the Online Learning Center in programming highly effective content for online courses while also assisting in technical development and maintenance of the WorldClassRoom.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Development of back-end applications for online learning programs.
• Works with Integration Architect to coordinate the synchronization of user and course information between SIS and WCR.
• Identification and resolution of any widespread (application or system level) issues.
• Responsible for coordinating decisions on use of the technical capabilities of the WorldClassRoom and any added media or applications.
• Evaluate upgrades and platform changes to the WorldClassRoom and organize communications and procedures for adoption.
• Design, delivery, and administration of the application architecture, system defaults, and interface components and features.
• Establish and maintain course level roles.
• Serve as 4th tier support for user issues, is the last level of local support before escalating issues to Instructure.
• Collaborate with Instructional Designers to assist faculty in development of new courses, redesigning of existing courses, and the creation of learning objects using rich media to enhance the student learning experience.
• Research, test, and implement new systems as they relate to the enhanced delivery of online courses through the WorldClassRoom.
• Main point of contact for beta testing and managing Instructure collaboration partnership.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related) or equivalent experience in web development field.
• Experience with current web development tools, languages, and technologies including LAMP stack development.
• Medium to advanced database (SQL) experience.
• Experience with web development, media production, interactive design, or equivalent.
• Experience with online/asynchronous learning or learning management systems a plus.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and OAuth2 is a plus.
• Experience working with faculty or instructors in a university setting is preferred.
• Experience with Adobe Media Server preferred but not required.

Webster University is strengthening and enhancing its Counselor Education Program by inviting applications for up to three (3) full time faculty with open rank for our St. Louis campus in the 2014-2015 academic year (12-month appointments).  A doctorate in counselor education and supervision or counseling is preferred at the time of appointment; consideration will be given to strong candidates who are ABD; applicants should also identify with the counseling profession through memberships in professional organizations (i.e., ACA and/or its divisions), and through appropriate certifications and/or licenses pertinent to the profession. Webster University- Greenville is currently accepting applications for its Master of Health Administration. Doctorate in health administration, health care management, or a closely related field with studies in health care or organizational behavior is desirable. MHA or a master's degree in a related area with an emphasis in health care management is required. Instructors with only a masters' degree must have at least three years of professional experience in fields relating to the program. Instructors with relevant doctoral degrees may have less experience, but some relevant professional experience is preferable. Three or more years of professional work experience directly related to the course is preferred. Registered nurses with professional experience are also asked to apply.

Assistant or Associate Professor in the Areas of  Finance, Economics or International Business/Management


The Vienna Campus of Webster University is seeking a proven research-focused candidate to join our growing faculty in Business and Management. The candidate will be an individual who has embarked on a successful career through their academic work to date, and is now looking to move to the next stage in an environment which values research excellence and creative pedagogy. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the ability to make a significant contribution to the field of expertise by publishing in internationally recognized refereed academic journals. S/he will be contributing to teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs. The position entails a 3-3 teaching load including core courses in finance/economics/international business. Furthermore, s/he will contribute to the curricular and co-curricular development of the department and be able to assume some administrative responsibilities at the departmental level. The initial contract will be for three years with the opportunity of extension and promotion.
