Global Photo Contest Guidelines

Attention world travelers! The Center for International EducationMulticultural Center
, and the Office of Study Abroad are conducting a photo contest for all students who have had an international experience with Webster University. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to show off your beautiful photographs from your engaging experience abroad!


  • Nature: Plants, landscapes, waterscapes, wildlife, panoramic views and outdoor activities
  • Architecture: Buildings, cityscapes, landmarks, monuments, or places of interest
  • Cross-Cultural Moments: Cultural events, interaction with host culture, defining moment, fairs, ceremonies, holiday celebrations, local festivals, or other cultural activities
  • Global Gorlok: Study Abroad student(s) showing Webster pride abroad (banner, logo, Gorlok, etc.) wearing WU attire in a unique international setting or gathering, or participating in Webster activities and/or excursions.

How to Submit

  • All submissions must be received by 11:59 p.m. central on.Tuesday,October 28, 2014
  • A completed entry form MUST accompany every entry.
  • Winners announced around November 7, 2014

Contest Rules & Eligibility

  1. Entrants must be current Webster students and can include students from other universities who have had an international experience with a Webster University program.
  2. Photos must be original work and must have been taken by the entrant. (No edited photos will be accepted).
  3. Images must be high resolution (should have a resolution of 300 dpi or higher).
  4. Photo format accepted is: .jpg.
  5. Entrants may submit a maximum of two (2) photos total (Only one photo per category).
  6. A completed entry form MUST accompany every entry.
  7. Photos must be free of alcohol, cigarettes, or any inappropriate material.
  8. Save your photo in the following format: "lastname_title_category".


Judging: Photos will be reviewed by a panel consisting of Webster faculty and staff. Judges decisions are final. Winning entries will be selected on the best quality photographs that convey the following:

  • Technical merit (clarity, focus, lighting, etc.).
  • Representation of the Webster University international experience.
  • Sensitivity toward the host culture.
  • Accurate representation of category.


  • The top photos will be displayed in the Edwards Jones Commons during the Fall 2014 semester. 
  • "1st Place", 2nd place" and "3rd place" photos will be awarded in each category. Each winner receives a prize.
  • Only one prize per entrant will be awarded.

Terms and Conditions

This contest is open to current Webster students and can include students from other universities who have had an international experience with a Webster University program. By submitting your photo(s) to the photo contest, you agree to obtain permission from individuals included in your photos, when feasible.

By submitting your photograph(s), you authorize and give full consent to Webster University to copyright, publish, modify, edit, and display all photographs and /or quotes taken in which your image and/or quote appears.

You agree that Webster University may use or cause to be used, your photograph for any and all exhibitions, public display, publications, commercial art, Internet/Web and advertising related to Webster University Student Recruitment and any other university promotional activities without limitation or reservation or any compensation.
