Community Music School



The Community Music School of Webster University (CMS) has offered outstanding music education and performance opportunities to students of all ages and abilities in the St. Louis area and beyond since its founding in 1925.  

Our music faculty include world-class performers who are also master teachers. The entire St. Louis metropolitan region is served with multiple locations, including the headquarters and concert hall located on the Webster University campus in historic Webster Groves. 

Walk-in Registration for Individual Lessons:  August 9-14

Beginning August 9,  new students may register for individual instruction with one of 100 CMS' professional teaching artists.  Three St. Louis locations to chose from:  

Webster Groves location: CMS Center (on the campus of Webster University), 535 Garden Ave., 63119:  Saturday, August 9: 10 a.m.–2 p.m., Tuesday, August 12: 4–7 p.m., or Thursday, August 14: 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Chesterfield location:  Faust Park, Strauss Center, 14941 Olive Blvd., 63017:  Monday, August 11: 10 a.m.–1 p.m. or Thursday, August 14: 4–7 p.m.

University City location:  Trinity Presbyterian, 6800 Washington Ave., 63130:  Wednesday, August 13: 4–7 p.m.

New Program "Music Today" Offered this Fall 

The Community Music School of Webster University offers a new program led by nationally renowned contemporary music ensemble Alarm Will Sound. The new program, "Music Today", will be offered in fall 2014 for the full academic year.

"Music Today" introduces students to contemporary chamber music performance and the business-related skills of concert production.

 Audition Applications for Orchestras/Ensembles Now Accepted

Band and string students ages 7 years through high school are encouraged to audition for the school’s orchestra or ensembles including String Ensemble, String Orchestra, Young People’s Concert or Symphonic Orchestras, Preparatory Program (chamber music), and Jazz Lab Ensemble. Application deadlines start as early as July 25.
