Webster University recognizes the important contribution international students and scholars make to the University and surrounding communities. Our staff is therefore, dedicated to supporting your endeavors.

Although our dedicated staff is here to help you, we encourage you to read and use the information provided on this website as a resource to answer many of your questions.

About Us

International Recruitment and International Services is responsible for the following:

  • Assisting prospective international students with the application and admissions process, visa application process and arrival procedure.
  • Providing information to departments or campuses that want to bring visiting scholars (i.e. professors, short-term scholars, teaching  assistants, and research scholars) to their campuses and handling the immigration related aspects of the process.
  • Conducting immigration orientation, immigration workshops, and immigration check-in.
  • Issuing immigration documents to international students and scholars.
  • Advising students and scholars with respect to immigration, visa, work permission and personal matters.
  • Ensuring that international students, scholars and Webster University are in compliance with federal regulations pertaining to nonimmigrants.
  • Serving as the liaison between the university, the students and the scholars with several federal agencies.

The mission of International Recruitment and International Services (IRIS) is to support and enhance the vision, mission and values of the Webster University by promoting partnerships with faculty and staff to recruit and retain students seeking an inclusiveness, global learning experience and academic excellence.

Primary Responsibilities: Directing the recruitment and admission of international students; admitting graduate international students; answering questions about graduate international students' admission process, procedure and admission status. All questions about graduate international student admission should be directed to Mr. Calvin Smith.

Wenceslaus (Wence) P'Oryem

Primary Responsibilities: Issuing immigration documents (I-20s and DS-2019s) to international students, visiting scholars and their dependents and updating their records in the Student Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS); advising International students and scholars on immigration matters and on visa application and interview process; and serving as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) for all Webster University U.S. extended SEVP-certified campuses and as the Responsible Officer (RO) for Webster University J-1 Exchange Visitor Program. Immigration and visa questions should be directed to Mr. Wenceslaus (Wence) P'Oryem.

Primary Responsibilities: Working with prospective international undergraduate adult freshmen ( first-year students) and undergraduate transfer students. Also serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) for F-1 visa students & their dependents and an Alternative Responsible Officer (ARO) for J-1 visa students, scholars & their dependents. Admission questions from transfer and adult-first year students should be directed to Ms. Janka Ribando. Immigration and visa questions can also be directed to her.

Primary Responsibilities: Evaluating international credential to determine if they meet admission requirements at Webster University. She is also responsible for admission of first-year undergraduate international students. Office Procedure

Appointments

Please schedule an appointment at least 3-5 business days before your intended visit if you need more than 15 minutes meeting with our staff; otherwise come during walk-in hours indicated below. International Recruitment & International Services typically does not schedule same-day appointments. Please remember that, if you are more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, you may be asked to reschedule your appointment for another day.

Current Students: If you are a current student you may email or call the individual staff directly to schedule an appointment. Please refer to “Staff” section above to locate the individual staff member who may answer your specific questions and his or her contact information.

Prospective Students: If you are a prospective student, please make an appointment online at Campus Visit.  If you wish to visit another Webster campus, contact that campus directly. 

Walk-in Hours

  • Tuesday: 1:00 pm - 3:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday:  1:00 pm - 4:00 p.m.

Current Students: Walk-ins are supposed to take about 15 minutes. During this time an appointment is not needed. If you have an issue that you believe will take more than 15 minutes to discuss, please send an email to one of the International advisors to schedule an appointment on a separate day. Walk-ins at other time will not be accepted.

Document pick-up and Delivery: If you requested  a letter online from the International Recruitment & International Services website, the letter will be sent to you via the method you selected when filling the form.  You will need to present your Webster Student ID card when picking up your document (s) from International Recruitment & International Services.
